The Devil's advocate: an unlikely fate for the boy raised in Derry's troubled Creggan estate in the '60s and '70s; this film showed how Des Doherty became part of the team which defended Saddam Hussein - from his home base - after garnering a reputation for excellence in human rights cases including Bloody Sunday, the Dublin and Monaghan bombings and the Omagh bombing - all from his small practice in his home city. Doherty's doggedness, attention to detail and compassion for his clients in even the humblest of cases has earned him many successful outcomes and respect from peers internationally.
